What was this, 2004? Dress for the illustrious Virginia's senior recital. Her degree is in Vocal Music. This darn thing got done in something like a month, with like two fittings, because Virginia lived like five hours away. Or something. Maybe even more than that. Anyway. ;)
The skirt is black (I think cotton) velveteen, and the bodice and underskirt are some kind of brocade we ganked off the kindly Matt (along with the velvet...). You can't see them, but there are Many Cartridge Pleats under that pretty bouquet in Virginia's arms. Whee. Cartridge pleats. They were actually somewhat amusing.
The hoop skirt that's under there is made of free used plastic lumber ties we got from Home Depot, by the way. Hooray for Home Depot. Lowe's was bratty at us and said they don't even give away their trash for free -- so Home Depot wins this one. Free promotions for the generous people at Home Depot!
