Meet Mr or Mrs Grey Squirrel (I call him or her Gerby). I never know from 1 or 2 seconds whether who ever is coming to say hi to me is a boy or a girl, so I say hi Gerby how are you today?. I call them all Gerby sometimes because when I was young I had some gerbils in a cage that I used to play with.. Before meeting Ed I had never actually talked to Squirrels but I always Loved watching them. To many people of course dont like them and I hear they try to shoo them away all the time (with a broom, or by shooting something at them), I hate that.. Let them come on your porch and you go away, they have every right to be there the way you do. Its their land youre living on and not your own.. However all the Gerbies here Love me, and when they see me alone without Star beside me, theyll perk up and say Hi, as well as are you gonna throw some food or what?.. All year long theyre with us, eat here in the front a lot but then go around the house to find more food, and up all the trees to eat, play and fool around with their mates. This picture is with Gerby sitting on a wooden guard we have on the porch for protecting Star from falling off of it, and when the winter comes all I do is put things up there for them to snack on. For when theyre happy they make so many beautiful sounds.. And with a waving of all fingers, or a cutie call with all your heart; you mustnt worry about bites, they know youre with me & I fly kites.
