Farhat Mahmood, a Muslim from Bradford is about to embark on a journey of a lifetime.
Every year over three million Muslims go to Mecca, including 20,000 from the UK, to perform Hajj, a pilgrimage mandatory for every Muslim to perform once during their lifetime providing they can afford it.
This is the first time Farhat, a Bradford Council Officer has been to Mecca. It was only about six months ago he decided to go.
He says: "I always thought I would go to Mecca with my wife. We were waiting until the children were a bit older. But after September 11th I began to think more about what Islam really was.
People thought that Islam was all about 'jihad' but it's not. 'Jihad is not about taking part in a holy war. 'Jihad' is to strive towards your creator. Hajj therefore signifies a personal as well as social striving towards one's creator.
