one mornings work for china and me.
We hunt rabbits and pheasants for food....dogs eat the rabbit meat and so do i , bones and guts go to my dogs and the skins are dried either to make pouches (maybe slippers one day) or else to be boiled down to make stinky glue.x.
We hunt with bare hands and paws, i carry a hazel stick that i use to flush them out, tho between them, my dogs have it sussed.x.
I am very very very very very very very VERY proud of my dog pictured here...her name is China,-she is a pedigree Italian Whippet....tho she is NOT bow backed and nervous....my next door neihbour has a bull terrior and china leaps the fence to nick his bones!!
She is spoilt rotten and very fast.
She loves to hunt, and her, me and my other dog Loki, who we call "keys" make an ultrasensitive hunting pack, responding almost psychicly to each other.
We even chase deer, but normally just end up falling over exhausted!
-We'd never be able to catch one.
I've learnt how to kill a rabbit in 2 ways...one is just to hold them...the sensation of touch sends them into death shock...and the other is to hold them by the back legs and flick them out like when you whip people with a dish cloth or a towel...it dislocates their everything, death is swift.
They scream when caught, and that is the main disturbing bit.....
I used to be vegan till i realised how much pollution was being created shipping and flying my lentils and beans and pulses over to this country...
Now i feel my relationship with the land is far more intimate and i even feel i belong more to the land and am governed by its laws...
I would NEVER hunt with a gun....i call hunting with guns MURDER, not hunting.
Hunting is a primitive art form, a survival skill that intergrates knowledge respect and cunning.
It is a blessing, i wish more people could experience the amazing times we 3 beings have...x.
