Serbia stray dog tragic story shows these days, that after more than ten years animals are still victims of brutal, barbaric and organized neglect, mistreatment and abuse. Serbia’s government officials do not protect these mistreated animals, they treat them like garbage on the streets that needs to be cleaned.

	Horror story “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated”. In order to show to the entire world that Serbia is becoming a civilized democratic European country, these atrocities have to stop. Other countries experience has demonstrated that the only effective, humane and civilized solution to the “stray dog problem” is the “catch - neuter – return” program associated with adoption campaigns. Eleanor B.	Abandoned animals in Serbia. I can hardly bear to look at these photographs. My heart goes out to these poor creatures who do not deserve such horrific treatment. I cannot understand how people can maltreat an animal. They are so warm and loving and each one has his/her own personality. It hurts to think of their suffering. In fact, at one point, I vowed never to set foot in my Homeland again! . . . But I've learned much & grown since then. I now realize there is Hope in ALL Beings (incl. Humans ~ EVEN MY PEOPLE!) ~ Jugoslavian's like you & Jelena are proving that!! . . . I now know that, as long as such good People all over the World work together, we CAN & WILL change things!! And I know there will be a day when I will not only not be ashamed to visit my Homeland again, but I will once again be Proud of it ~ as I am Proud of you & Jelena and ALL the other amazing Jugoslavs, Croats & people from the entire "Former Jugoslavia"! . . .
