"YOUR FUZZY VALENTINE AWAITS!"
BROOKLYN, NY ADOPTION EVENT Sponsored by In Our Hands Rescue, Inc, The Mayor's Alliance of NYC,
Northshore Animal League and the Regal Theater
True love comes in all colors...
How about a friendly Russian Blue? Maybe a mushy Red-nose? Or even a bouncing baby brindle? We have them all, and we hope you'll make one of our "fuzzy Valentines" your "one and only" this Valentines Day.
But don't do it for the holiday-- do it because animals offer us unconditional love on a scale rarely experienced. He or she will know you saved his or her life-- and never forget it.
Thanks to our friends at the Mayor's Alliance of NYC, Northshore Animal League and The Regal Theater, IOHR will be holding an adoption event to help place the many animals still held in foster or boarding. When you adopt a pet, you will open a space in rescue for another death-row animal to be saved.
Saturday Feb 14th, 12 PM - 6 PM
In front of the Regal Theater, located at:
106 Court Street Brooklyn, NY 11201
meet these cats, kittens and dogs
• Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened. -- Anatole France •
Palania, 2 yr old special needs DSH
Her name should be "Little Miss Sunshine," and she's just so special in every way! Of course her Cerebral Hypoplasia just adds to her charm. She is a "special needs" cat, but her conditon requires no extra treatment and her lifespan will be normal. Cerebral Hypoplasia is a neurological ailment that affects some motor skills and makes her a bit wobbly, but she is healthy and happy despite it. The condition will not worsen and she will simply be a "one-of-a-kind" loving kitty!
Kittens, kittens, kittens!
Looking for kittens? We have a HUGE selection of furry, friendly, well-socialized kittens. Ages start at 16 weeks and all are great little balls of fur and fun. There will be many colors to chose from-- all super sweet.
Lucy, 1 yr old DSH
Sweet Lucy is a mom that nobody wanted. Her kittens were adopted long ago. She is so sweet and loving, we have no idea why she's still here. If you check out any cat at this event, come to see LUCY! We are determined to find this incredible girl a home!
Rescued from the city shelter with her own kittens, she proved to be a loving mom, nursing another litter as well. Now that they have all gone off and found loving homes poor Lucy waits for her turn. She'd give anything just to be your Valentine.
Abby, 1 yr old Russian Blue
Scared, yet sweet Abby is another shelter rescue. Now, she seeks the love of her forever home. Not only is she a stunning Russian Blue colored cat, she is delightful company. If you want to "rescue" a cat and help her to relax and adjust, this is your girl.
Cindy, 5 month old Tabby Mix
Poor scared Cindy has the look of terror in her eyes, however she non-aggressive and very much wanting to be loved. She is looking for that calm soothing voice and soft touch to teach her to trust... is that you?
She promises to be a wonderful cat in return.
Johnny, 6 month old DSH
Break out the cat nip and keep it coming!! he is a playful kitten who LOVES dogs i will repeat he LOVES dogs. loads of fun and kitten cuddles i envy the lucky home who gets Johnny
Fredd, 6 month old DMH
Fredd is the the cat who loves cats, yet not so much his humans-- he's not aggressive, just runs away.
Are you looking for the purrrfect companion for your cat while you are away? Or maybe your kitty is very pushy and you want another but someone very low-maintenence? Well have I got the most beautiful soloution: FREDD! He is simply stunning to look at, however he prefersto keep to himself or play with other cats. He is a great cat for any other animal friend (he's also good with dogs)! It's OK, he won't hurt a fly, even when cornered-- he just wants to get away. He isn't a hider either. He can often be found lounging by the window or couch, but let's not scare him with all that touchy-feely business!
Zoe, 2 month old Boxer/Amstaff Mix
Adorable 8 week-old zoe is a typical puppy-- very playful and loving, but very emergetic! She needs a home with bully breed expierence in order for her to grow into a well-rounded, disciplind family dog. We'd love to see her new family eroll er in puppy training as a way to teach her groundrules and build the human-canine bond. When placed in loving, structured homes, this breed is sweet, obediet and loyal!
She has all her shots, is dewormed, spayed and microchipped-- ready to share her puppy kisses asap!
She is a great little lady who you will be lucky to have added to your family-- come to meet her at teh event, or email jennifer@inourhandsrescue.org.
*** Here are some HIGH PRIORITYdogswho are UNABLEto be at the event. Please email emily@inourhandsrescue.org to meet them!
Max, 11 month old Great Dane/Boxer Mix, 60 lbs
Max was saved from euthanasia at the shelter and was placed in a kennel temporarily to save his life. We are now looking for his forever home. MAX is an 11-month old male tan and white Boxer/Great Dane mix puppy that weighs 60 lbs. He arrived at the shelter on Oct 9th as a stray. He is your typical puppy – full of playful and innocent puppy energy. As you can see from his picture, he was emaciated and all we want for him is a caring owner that will take him into their loving home. Can you afford Max this once in a lifetime opportunity?
We know that Max is good with most dogs when introduced properly, but he does chase cats, and not in a playful way. We picture the ideal home for max to be with active, experienced adults with no small furry creatures who may be perceived as prey running around! Max is very, very intelligent. he is eager to learn and eager to please-- one volunteer even pictures him as an excellent SAR (search and rescue) dog!
***MAX is boarded in the Philadelphia METRO area, despite our NYC area code!*** If you can provide Max the loving and nurturing home that will give him the TLC he deserves, please respond to this posting or call 212-533-0822. When leaving a message, please also provide your email address so we can email you an application right away for consideration.
Ashley, 8 year-old Amstaff Mix, 50 lbs
Sweet ASHLEY was saved from deathrow at the local city shelter in the nick of time. She's a calm gentle very loving mature F Brindle Pit Mix weighing approx 50 lbs. She was surrendered by a family that couldn't keep her because they were moving but they assured us that she is a wonderful family dog! She is not great with other big dogs at first but she may be ok with them once she gets to know them... she would probably do better with smaller dogs but it would be best if she were an "only pet". She's going to need someone who has had previous Bully Breed experience and will be patient and compassionate with her.
Ashley was always kept in the house and was never properly acclimated to fast moving city life so she's a bit afraid of objects that move quickly in front of her i.e bicycles, skateboards, running people.. therefore we feel a QUIET HOME IN THE COUNTRY would be the best place for her. Her foster mom is patiently working with her fears and reports that once she gets to know you, she is the sweetest loving snuggle buggle... she just is a bit afraid of the unknown. So if you're looking for a sweet calm loyal companion - please open your heart and home to welcoming ASHLEY!
Mr. White, 6 month-old American Staffordshire Terrier, 40 lbs
This beautiful pure-white rednose Amstaff originally came from an upstate breeder. They can no longer keep him because of the landlord, and this sweet puppy needs a new home. IOHR agreed to help him find the best forever home he could hope for! he loves his toys and loves to play with other dogs-- he is a well socialized, typical puppy! He will need lots of exercise for his age and breed, so we hope to find him an athletic or active new mom or dad. His owner says he is good with kids and other dogs. He is a big snuggler and loves to give kisses while laying next to you on the couch-- what a mush! His favorite snack is cheese.. now you gotta love a pup that loves cheese! All he needs now is that final FUREVER home. Contact emily@inourhandsrescue.org to meet him in Richmond Hill!
Eric, 11 month old Amstaff Mix, 50 lbs
THIS SWEET HANDSOME PUP NEEDS TO BE IN A HOME! HE HAS BEEN STUCK IN BOARDING - CAN YOU HELP US TO SAVE HIM BY COMMITTING TO Adopting/Fostering/Sponsoring?
HOW WAS THIS DOG EVER IN THE SHELTER? Whomever gave him up did someone else a favor. This dog is nearly *perfect* - he scored "NO CONCERN" on his behavior test and he's GORGEOUS to boot. Can you believe a coveted blue nose puppy was dumped? Well, he was. Their loss, our gain!
ERIC is calm, cool and collected, gentle-- well behaved. He is all of those things you want in an 11 mo, 45 lb puppy but can't get. He has a gorgeous silver and white coat, and a uniquely spotted nose--- a beautiful boy, inside and out. So highly adoptable, we don't even need to spew euphamisms here, however since he's still a pup, he will still need "EXERCISE, DISCIPLINE & TRAINING". He appears to be housebroken and he's good with other dogs. We don't know how he is with cats or small kids under 5 yrs old so we don't recommend that he go with young children unless YOU'VE HAD PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE with PITS. If you come to meet him, you just might get the privilege of being his mom or dad--- but don't wait--- he's not safe from loneliness yet-- not until hes cozy in your arms.
Missy, 2 year old Hound/Amstaff Mix, 45 lbs
Sweet MISSY is the kind of dog you want to cuddle up with. This small 2 yr old hound/amstaff X arrived at the Shelter as a stray. She loves being caressed and petted, and loves treats, ah, perhaps a bit too much. She needs to put on some weight. She arrived here very thin and underweight. Clearly, life had been hard to her. She wants to gobble up treats and needs to learn to take them gently from your hands. She walks nicely on a leash, and has learned "sit" when tasty treat is her reward. She's been good with most dogs, so email us to meet her today!
Slim, 1 year old Lab/Amstaff Mix, 45 lbs
SLIM is a 1-year old (or possibly younger) male, black and white American Staffordshire Terrier Mix puppy that weights about 45 lbs. Poor Slim was found chained to a tree. What a cruel thing to do to a dog! He's a very sociable and friendly boy. Slim loves being with people and adores being petted and hugged. He's still very much a puppy: a bit mouthy but has no intention of hurting you. Just puppy mouthy -- wanting to gum anything he can get in his mouth. He's still puppy-clumsy. For example, he fell off the bench while going belly up for tummy rubs. He's quite a mush. He's been fine around other dogs at the shelter. He weighs 39 pounds and will grow some more. He is very active and needs to be adopted by someone who will give him daily exercise-- morning and or evening jogs would be great for him!
