  • A Mother's Love

     Milk_amamentando_leite_238581_tn

    Often times today, I have noticed mothers walking several feet in front of their young children. I have also noticed small children unsupervised, leading smaller children by the hand as they walk down the street. To me this is so disturbing and it  makes me wonder," what happened to the natural protective instinct of a mother?".  When I was a young mother, my mother and father and other elders gave me advice on how to raise my children. They said, always keep them near you when you have them out. They said..... your children should always be beside you or in front of you. The reason for this was so that you would be close enough to grab them, in the event of danger. And of course if they are several feet behind you, someone could grab them before you even noticed them missing! They said raise your children in the way that you want them to go when they are young, and they won't disappoint you as an adult.  When you give love to children, they grow up wanting to give it back. My parents also believed in giving us chores and giving us responsibility, so that we would appreciate that which was given to us and value that which we work for. So, I guess I don't understand because, I can't understand! How can a mother who carried a child inside of her, nursed them and watch them grow, just let them go, so easily, before their time.

    There are things that a real mother just naturally does, it's instinctive and genuine. You do it because you love and because you care. But there is something going on today with mothers specifically, that's not good and it's not fair to the children.

    It seems that too many  parents force their children to grow up too fast. They want them to be responsible for their own safety and well being. This is cruel and unusual punishment. It is punishment because the children are being forced into roles that they are not prepared for. They don't have the maturity level that is required to protect. They don't have the vision that is required to foresee and avoid danger. They don't have the knowledge and experience to apply self discipline. This epidemic is affecting children from all walks of life and from various economic backgrounds. What's really scary is that mothers or fathers don't seem to have a clue!

    The degree of mother's love that I have known was one that was so deep that she would have cried your tears, if she could have. She would have gone through your pain if, you could have given it to her. And, she would have done it all naturally. But because she couldn't do those things, she loved you through those things. When you hurt, she hurt. Most mother's back in the day put themselves last and their children first. Gospel singer great, Shirley Caesar  recorded  a song that clearly described the unconditional love of a mother. That song was titled;

     (No Charge.)

    In the song, Mrs.Caesar said that one day her son gave her a list of chores that he had completed and beside them was the amount that he wanted her to pay him for each chore. Mrs.Shirley said that she looked at the list and began to think about the things that she had done for her son, over the years. She said that she turned the sheet over and wrote;

    For the nine months I carried you, growing inside me, No Charge
    For the nights I sat up with you, doctored you, prayed for you, No Charge
    For the time and the tears, and the cost through the years, No Charge
    For the nights filled with dread, and the worries ahead, No Charge
    For advice and the knowledge, and the cost of your college, No Charge
    For the toys, food and clothes, and for wiping your nose, No Charge
    Son, when you add it all up, the full cost of my love is No Charge

    Well, when he finished reading, he had great big tears in his eyes. And he looked up at me and he said, "Mama, I sure do love you." Then he took the pen and in great big letters he wrote, PAID IN FULL.

    Shirley Caesar

    Mrs.Caesar showed her son that she had loved and cared for him without condition and without expectation of reward. She showed her son that he could really never repay her, even if he wanted to! She made it very clear to him that a mother's love is  priceless. Our children should not have to earn our love or be subjected to parental neglect. There is no love like a mother's love and there is no hurt like the hurt of a child, who is not loved

    Do you think that young children today are growing up too fast?
