This is AIMI's bridge for the incarcerated mentally ill WITH your help.

We need to to help bridge the gap back to wholesome living for imprisoned mental patients.  Many of them  woke up this moring in cells no larger than a small closet where they will spend another 23 hours alone and afraid. That is why we need you to join our efforts to decriminalize mental illness!

Here is AIMI's bridge WITHOUT your input.

Bridge Over Troubled Waters

I Believe Equal Justice Is Possible!   Together, yes we can!

It's easy to help!  Please contact your congressional representative today and demand that inpatient and outpatient treatment (depending on their offenses) replace incarceration for the mentally ill people in your state.
http://www.house.gov/writerep

Most mentally ill inmates are not incarcerated for violent offenses and may not need hospitalization.  Instead, they only need subsistence assistance and mandated treatment in their communities. Participants in programs that combine those two elements experience over an 80% drop in homelessness, incarcerations, hospitalizations, and repeat arrests. Such programs are more humane and less expensive on taxpayers than punishing citizens for being sick.

Bridge to Springtime   Be someone's bridge today!

Do you remember Frank Horton?

NEWSFLASH:  There are tens of thousands more like them - many in your state.  Please send your congressperson a quick note supporting decriminalizing mental illness.  Move sick people from being inmates to inpatients.  It's the right thing to do.

Thank you so much, Devida! Please do.

When I came to this page, it said there was one (1) discussion item. I posted as discussion items to People Helping Other People Worldwide; People for Justice; Americans for a Better America (which someone else must have placed), and The Town Crier. Now, I don't suppose anyone around here at Care2 is against mental patients getting treated instead of jailed, right? So all of these need to actually post, unlike in the past when I use one of my OTHER FIVE COMPUTERS and find I see something different on them. The interference is probably coming from outside, in which case it is definitely PAST TIME to do a security check. COFFEE IS BURNING ON THE STOVE.

Thanks.
