Pet Safety Warning: String, Thread, Yarn, Rope Toys, Etc. Danger!

Never let your pet play with String, Thread, Thread Spools, Yarn, Rope, String Toys, Rope Toys, Dental Floss, Fishing Line, Christmas Tree Tinsel, Shoe Laces, Etc. (or anything like this.) These items can be very dangerous to your pet. Small (or large) lengths of string can be inadvertently swallowed and lodge in the intestinal track. The workings of the intestine can cause the string to work like a cutter, causing damage and even death.

I am glad to see this info out for people to see. Also careful of floss - especially the flavored kid for children. I flush any used floss down the toilet right away. Cats get into the spooled thread on your sewing machine if you leave it set up. They are imaginative creatures when you are away from the house or at night while you sleep!

My dog recently had emergency surgery after string/rope from a popular dog toy lodged in or around his intestine. cost was $7500 australian. The vets had no idea what the problem was and it was at my insistance that he be taken to a animal emergency hospital that he was saved just in time. im not happy that there were no warning signs on the toy. He had 40% of his intestine removed but is now home and hopefully on the road to a full recovery.

Danger of the LOVE HARNESS from Petcetera. My dog was injured while wearing the Love Harness from Petcetera. I tried to tell the staff (both at the store and head office) and they advised me the product was safe. It's not. Please save your pet injury and yourself money in vet bills. DO NOT purchase the Love Harness from Petcetera. It rides high on the neck and it damaged my dog's trachea. Play safe!

my dog walked up to me and had a long piece of thread hanging out of her mouth i pulled at it and like 3 feet came out but it was still coming so i cut the rest of the string and she swallowed it. I was afraid to keep pulling because i didn't know if she swallowed the spool and i didn't want to choke her. Is she going to be ok? what should i do? will she poo it out? if anyone can give me advice i would be grateful. THANK YOU

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for this article. Unfortunately I have found it too late. My 3 month old American Bulldog died due to blockage from a toy rope sold at Petsmart.
