Focus:Sustainable Development
Action Request:Petition
Location:United States
From the petition:

"Coal companies in Tennessee, Kentucky, Virginia, and West Virginia are ravaging our country's mountains.  They blow up as much as 800 feet of mountaintop at a time to get to the coal.  For them, it is quicker and cheaper to do it this way.

This has caused landslides and flooding.  It is destroying our ecosystem, natural wildlife, and endangering the residents living in the surrounding areas!  Once the mountain tops are destroyed what do they do with it?  Part of it is dumped into the valleys below, causing even more destruction, part of it is "secured" behind earthen dams.  In one instance, one broke causing thousands of injuries, thousands of homeless and hundreds of deaths!  This cannot be allowed to continue!

I have given you just a small bit of information here . . . please look further at:

If you can watch these videos and not want to sign this petition, I worry about your own humanity, but it is your choice. Let your conscience be your guide.

Thank you for taking the time to learn about this horrific injustice.

Now let your voice be heard!"
