The Dream (a short fiction story by David Holdsworth)
Jul 4, 2009
Last night I had a dream. An angel called Angelos showed me a great multitude of people from every tribe, kindred and tongue. They appeared to be on the move. The front row all held banners with the word LOVE written in bold on them. Among the crowd was people dressed as soldiers from every geographical location and generation of humanity. Instead of swords and guns they had ploughs and fishing rods. Angelos showed me two soldiers walking arm in arm and told me how they had killed each other in battle, but in the last moments of life as they both were dying they had repented and forgiven each other. Now they are brothers in eternity.
There were people of all shades of skin and all age groups, both male and female, and all walks of life. Then Angelos told me how a little child would lead them. I saw the child as he spoke and he was leading this multitude with a lion and a lamb by each side. They reached a mountain and in the most wonderful united chorus began to sing of "The mountain of the Lord" and began to shout "Hosanna, Hallelujah, Shalom, Peace forever, Praise the Prince of Peace."
Once they reached the top of the mountain the child, the lion and the lamb all lay down together... Then I awoke and praised the Lord!
