Keeping a wild animal as a pet is a very dangerous hobby. Any animal that is not truly domesticated, such as common dogs and cats, is very dangerous. It can snap at any time, and the results are never pretty for the human keepers. See the page "the Chomping Maul" for a few examples.

Tigers and lions are generally not kept inside people's homes, due to their size. Other wild cats are much smaller though, and can fit well into a house with its human keepers. This is a recipe for disaster.

There is one business near Kansas City called Exotic Cats-R-Us. They breed and sell African servals, caracals, chaussies, bengals, and savannahs. The biggest of these is about half the size of a cougar.

Of course the owners of this business know they are doing something wrong and/or dangerous, because they make justifications for it all over their site's pages. At the same time, they post pictures of these cats inside their home; even lying next to their sleeping kids.

They sell these cats for $2,000. to $3,000. apiece.

If you would like to talk to them about this, their contact page is here, and their personal cell phone number is 816-985-2901.

It is notable that they link to, or try to link to, a group that teaches people how to breed exotic cats. Talk about perpetuating a problem! These people are the quintessential example of the problems of exotic cat ownership, breeding, and selling. Their page is here.
