Our health care is about the best in the world. Everyone is covered and it's not free. We pay according to income with $54.00 being the lowest Seniors with poverty level income do not pay nor do people under government care.(welfare, special needs etc.) We have a family doctor and if we go to a walk in clinic or hospital he gets a report the next day, so all our files are in one place Non-essential surgeries can be put on hold as critical ones take priority. This applies to scans etc. This makes common sense. We have private insurance like Blue Cross and others which cover what our health care doesn't. If you are employed by the government or have a union job you usually have coverage on both levels To see a specialist we have to get a referral from our doctor and that list can be long as we are so short of specialists but we do get in eventually..but in an emergency you get in right away. We now have private clinics where you can go and put your money down and get your surgery right away. We call them the American style clinics Even our system gets tweeked from time to time as some doctors figure out ways to abuse it. I am thankful that we have a system that covers all of us as so many people cannot afford what the big and powerful Insurance companies charge. Me being one of them. Shona Holmes could have dropped her $100,000.00 right here in Canada
