Don't Let The ACLU Remove The Crosses From Federal Cemeteries

Dear Laurie,

The ACLU is currently trying to remove a cross from Mount Soledad National War Memorial in San Diego. In fact, an activist judge has already ordered the city to remove the cross from the memorial or face a fine of $5,000 per day. That case, now 17 years old, is still being fought in court.

If the ACLU wins, it will mean that every cross in every federal or state cemetery will eventually be removed. Don't let it happen! Under Section Three, Article Two of the U.S. Constitution Congress can pass a law prohibiting federal judges from having any jurisdiction over federal cemeteries.

If the ACLU is allowed to pursue this anti-Christian bigotry unchecked, the 9000 white crosses at Normandy Beach could soon disappear. The words on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington will be open for removal: "Here rests in honored glory an American soldier known but to God."

Take Action

Please ask your Senators to sponsor a law protecting the crosses in all federal cemeteries and use Article Three, Section Two to remove jurisdiction from federal judges.

Send your letter today! It will go directly to your two U.S. Senators and President Bush. And please forward this to others as we honor our heroes who have given so much so that we can enjoy the freedoms we have.

That message jumbles so many unrelated legal issues, and distorts or misrepresents so many facts of history and law, that anyone who pays attention to such issues can only wonder if its real purpose is dishonest inducement of fear for fundraising purposes by a fraud-oriented fake xtian predator organization, such as those of Don Wildmon, D. James Kennedy, or their ilk of con artists?

The Mt. Soledad cross was never built as a war memorial, but was only given that status as a subversive trick to evade legal claims that it was an illegal government promotion of specific religion, as it was.

Last I checked, Normandy Beach was outside the jurisdiction of US laws, and so the mere mention of that is specious and implies the author of the above deceitful propaganda expects the literacy of message recipients must be serverely crippled.

There are many problems with use of religion to promote war by the US Dept of Defense, as well as sometimes complex balancing of issues tests for when religious displays in public places are legal speech versus illegal government favoritism of select religions. The Unknown Soldier grave would appear to pass those tests.

Veteran headstones are provided under Veterans Administration regulations, as a service to families of deceased soldiers, with any or no religious emblems a matter of personal or family choice. As such, they aren't considered government speech, though there are serious problems over discriminatory VA process for approval of such emblems, and pending litigation over illegal VA actions to favor some religions and censor others. While the ACLU is certainly aware of that litigation and supports it ideologically, Barry Lynn of Americans United is championing it in conjunction with Circle Santuary in Wisconsin, and a few others.

What dangerous predators acting on either psychotic views of law, history, and religion, or with tactical malicious intent if not delusional, perpetrated the above fraud laden propaganda?

One issue I'd support where the ACLU is more reserved would be to establish that subjecting kids to that kind of fraud presented as if factual education crosses outside the lines of parental or religious rights into child abuse, at least within the context and methods where rabid Fundie predators often attempt to warp people's understanding of the history and functional issues important to our democracy.
