I indeed signed this, with this added comment.

More than a symbol for freedom. The eagle represents freedom for all life. As a keystone species, the eagle is very sensitive to failures in the balance of nature. If we are going to preserve and conserve wildlife, the eagle should be at the top of the list.

If we are unable (or unwilling) to protect our own nation's symbol, what chance does any other species of wildlife stand?
