Campaign: Protection of sponsored girl-children from Female Genital Mutilation

We are glad to welcome you on our campaign website!

We would like to offer you the opportunity to support the abandonment of violence and harm against children - without the need to invest a single cent.

Do you empathize with distressed and suffering children in developing countries? Do you wish that each single child could get a chance for a better life? Therefore, you think about sponsoring a child in a developing country? Such as provided by organisations like PLAN International, WorldVision, Kindernothilfe (in Germany) or Children's fund CCF / ChildFund Germany? Or do you already donate 300,- to 360,- EURO/Dollars per year for a sponsored child to one of the mentioned organisations?

In that case, you should have a careful look:

Please find here an interview with Lucy Mashua, who originally comes from the South of Kenya and who decided to take the campaign under her patronage:
Lucy Mashua
Lucy Mashua comes from South Kenya, from a Maasai family. Today, the 30-years old woman lives in Dallas where, after a long Odysse, she found a new home. At age of nine, she became a victim of female genital mutilation, at age of twelve, she was sold to a 53-year old man, did escape from him - and dedicated herself already at age of 21 to the protection of girls from genital mutilation. Countless girls she helped to flee from this violence. Several times, she has been arrested, raped and tortured by the Clan-chefs - but imperturbably she continued to fight for the most fundamental rights of women and children - especially the fight for an end of FGM. About these practices she says: "Every year, thousands of girls and women die from female genital mutilation - if this is not genocide, what is it then?" ... "I want to be a voice for the voiceless" Lucy claims and raises her voice - strong, consequent and imperturbable. Lucy Mashua supports our campaign to protect sponsored girl-children in projects of German and International development agencies.

She talked with us about her decision.

Sister Fa, the Hip-Hop-Queen from Senegal, dedicates her music amongst others to an end of female genital mutilation in her native country Senegal.
Sister Fa
She knows exactly what she's talking about when she mentions the "sad and injured girls" who are victims of female genital mutilation. In January 2008, Sister Fa realised a tour with concerts in several towns and villages in Senegal. "Education without mutilation" was the slogan of that tour. With her music, she achieved to reach and awake especially the young generation. An upcoming tour is already in preparation.
Please, read here, Sister Fa's opinion about this campaign.

Bless her and others who stand up and speak out against these practices. Just because they have gone on for years do not make them right. This is so tragic that it continues on even today.

This is truly a horrible crime against women & girls. It is clearly an way of "putting gals in their place", which is evil. Boys aren't horribly mutilated. This is clearly about oppressing the female (while guys can lay with anything that moves). No good man would support this. We need to send what I'd call "Secular/Multifaith Misionaries" to these & other "backwards" societies & teach them about human rights, modern medicine and other things to get these folks into the 21st Century (whilst still respecting their culture, faiths, etc. and not being 'imperialstic'). We should educate and empower the people, not only in Africa but the Mid-East & other places. Likewise, here in the States, we should reach out and help those in the ghettos to overcome their lot in life (same for many of our Native American brothers & sisters). This is better than any reparation check because "If you give soeone a fish you feed them for a day BUT if you teach them to fish, you feed them forever". On behalf of Caucasians (like me) everywhere, BOY DO WE OWE YA!!! Blessed Be!
