A LETTER TO MY GREAT,GREAT,GREAT,GRANDCHILD IN 2070

MY DEAR GREAT GREAT GREAT GRANDCHILD , I WISH I COULD CALL YOU BY NAME BUT AT THIS TIME YOU HAVENT BEEN BORN , BUT PLEASE KNOW I HOLD YOU IN MY ARMS WITH PRIDE AND HOPE.

THIS IS THE YEAR 2009 AND SO FAR MANKIND HAS BEEN AN IDIOT ON THIS PLANET AND HIS ACTIONS HAVE CAUSED SO MUCH DAMAGE THAT IM AFRAID YOU AND YOUR GENERATION ARE HAVING TO DEAL WITH IT.

I AND THE REST OF MANKIND HAVE CAUSED GLOBAL WARMING , POSIONED THE AIR WE BREATH , DISTROYED FORRESTS AND FILLED THE SEAS OF THE WORLD WITH RUBBISH.AND MOST OF ALL DISTROYED THE CREATURES THAT USED TO  POPULATE THE WORLD .

AT THIS TIME THE GREAT WHALES ARE STILL HUNTED BY A FEW MISGUIDED COUNTRIES , DOLPHINES ARE NETTED BY TUNA FISHERMEN , SHARKS ARE HUNTED FOR THIER FINS SO THEY CAN BE MADE INTO SOUP.

WE STILL DRIVE ROUND IN GAS GUSELLING CARS ,FILLING THE AIR WITH GASSES THAT WE CANNT BREATH ,WE STILL USE COAL TO PROVIDE POWER AND PESTICIDES TO CONTROL PESTS .

IM SORRY WE HAVE LEFT YOU SUCH A MESS AND I PREY THAT YOUR GENERATION WILL BE ABLE TO GET THE PLANET BACK ON LINE AND PROTECT WHAT EVER WILDLIFE IS STILL LEFT.

THERES 61 YEARS BETWEEN THIS LETTER AND YOU READING IT AND I HOPE OVER THOSE YEARS MAN HAS FOUND A CLEANER FORM OF TRASPORT , THAT HE NO LONGER KILLS THE WILDLIFE , THAT HE HAS CLEANED THE SEAS OF THE WORLD AND THAT HE HAS LEARNT TO LIVE WITH HIMSELF AND STOPPED WARS.

MY DEAR GREAT , GREAT, GREAT GRANDCHILD I HAVE IN MY SMALL WAY TRIED TO DEAL WITH THESE ISSUES , BUT I AM JUST ONE MAN , THOUGH I DO KNOW HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS WHO ARE ALSO DOING A LITTLE TO HEAL THE WRONGS OF THIS PLANET AT THIS TIME. THESE UNNAMED AND UN ACLAIMED PEOPLE HAVE ALREADY STARTED TO BAND TOGETHER TO PROTECT THE WILDLIFE , THE PLANET AND MAN KIND AND IM SURE THAT THIER GREAT , GREAT, GREAT GRANDCHILDREN ARE CARRYING ON THE GOOD CAUSE.

MY DEAR GREAT,GREAT,GREAT,GRANDCHILD I LOVE YOU AND WISH I COULD SPEAK TO YOU DIRECT AND APPOLOGISE TO YOU IN PERSON FOR ALL THE DAMAGE WE HAVE CAUSED.I HOPE YOU AND YOUR GENERATION CAN STILL HEAR THE CALL OF THE WHALE ,SEE A LION IN THE WILD, HEAR BIRDS SINGING IN THE MORNING ,AND SWIM IN A CLEAN SEA .

I LEAVE YOU WITH THIS WISH THAT YOU WILL HAVE STARTED TO REPAIR ALL THE DAMAGE THAT MY GENERATION AND THOSE THAT CAME BEFORE ME HAVE CAUSED , I ALSO WISH YOU ALL MY LOVE AND ASK THAT YOU IN TIME ALSO WRITE TO YOUR GREAT ,GREAT,GREAT GRANDCHILD AND ASK HIM OR HER TO CONTINUE TO PROTECT THIS WONDERFULL BLUE PLANET THAT I CALL HOME .

Sad but only to true.those of us who are alive to day have e lot to answer for.Mankind seems to have a death wish and an insane ability to destroy this wonderful planet that we live on.I wish it was otherwise.Will sane voices provail in the end ? I do fervently hope so before it's to late.

Let's live a contangeous awareness with love to change, even though there are many jerks with fat wads of money that do exactly the opposite and they are gonna die poor, in spirit and have the nose to even leave their great great great grandchildren in misery, but we still play their game. It made me tearful and I know our grandchildren won't make our mistakes, if only for the reason we are through our oil-reserves. They will have to deal with that and think how green things will turn again...that's hopeful.
