U.S. Official Resigns in Protest of Afghanistan War Policy
World  (tags: conflictgovernmentpoliticswar )

"I have lost understanding of and confidence in the strategic purposes of the United States' presence in Afghanistan,"
------------------------
My comment;
Why are we there? First we supported the poppy farmers, and poppy production boomed. Al Queda crushed this and poppy production went down 95% under their government.
Now we are moving in that direction as well... but the consequence is that we lost the farmers, and they now hate us, because they cannot make a living raising other crops, or so they say.
More people hate us and want us out in that country than ever before.. Why is that, when we are there supposedly to install democracy?
Why is it that under our watch, the most corrupt vote ever held was taken and then thrown out?... The scandal was uncovered mostly due to UN watchdogs and international observers.. not internal controls via a democratic process.
Corruption is so epidemic there that there is very little that is NOT corrupted.. The US private army of contractors is totally corrupt, all profits, bribes, slush funds, payoffs, stealing, coverups, cost overruns, ad nauseum..
The military wants to keep getting lots of money, so they have to justify a never ending war. If they cannot succeed in this, then why would we keep spending BORROWED money from Communist CHINA on a war that cannot be won, ever?
No country on Earth has ever conquered Afghanistan and held it.. Lots of countries have invaded it, but none could hold it for long.. We cannot win there either... just like Vietnam. The deck is stacked against us for MANY, MANY reasons..
