CSA News:

Please spread the word that we are starting our CSA (community supported agriculture) program in Topanga canyon at Topanga Elementary school (in the center of the little town) on Wednesday November 4th.  For those of you who don't know about CSA, basically, for $25 you can pick up a bag of local, organic produce at any of our 6 locations and $2 goes to the location...most are elementary schools.  We let you choose some of the items and you can participate every week or every other.  This is a great way to support your local farms as well as schools at the same time.  And boy do those kids need to see some real food.....unlike what they are giving them in the lunchroom!

The hours at Topanga Elementary will be every Wednesday 1-4pm.  Please visit www.csacalifornia.org for futher details.

Thank you!!!

What is CSA?

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a way for the community to develop a relationship with a local farm(s) by committing to purchase produce on a regular basis.  Many CSA programs are structured like a share-holder program.  While this can work for some, it is difficult for many.  So we have created a program with a bit more flexibility.  And we have also implemented a fund raising program for the elementary schools that we are working with.  $2 from every bag sold goes to the school for their garden and/or nutrition program.

The Farm:  Most of the produce is grown in Riverside by the Ramirez Family.  They have their own well and practice sustainable farming methods.  They do not spray pesticides and they use horse manure for fertilizing.  The Ramirez family also provides us with fruits from a sustainable farm in Fresno.

Costs:  The cost for a weekly bag of fresh/local/sustainable/organic, produce is $25 and will consist of seasonal fruits and vegetables.  Of course larger families can order more and costs will be adjusted accordingly.  If you currently shop at a supermarket, this is not only fresher, but also more affordable! Click Here to see what's in this weeks bag.  We switch it up weekly and also have a section where you can choose part of what goes in your bag.  We also just started a store so you can easily go online and order extra produce to be picked up with your regular bag.

Ordering & Pick-Up Locations: If you would like to participate, this is how it works.   You can sign up here for a 4 week trial.  You have the option to participate every week or every other week.  If you are unable to make it one week we offer the option of skipping as long as you give us 24 hours notice.  New orders must be placed the day before by 5 PM.  You can pay online using pay pal for your first month and after that you will have the option to pay on site with a check or cash.  We can also deliver to local business or apartment complexes if you have 10 or more join.  Please contact us for more details.  Let's get healthy!
