Animal + Rights = Animal rights  

Animal Rights law also known as Animal Liberations, are laws that are suppose to protect animals. This law states that animals are to be given the same considerations as humans receive. If ever a crime was committed the committer would have to do time just like if a person committed harm to another human being. Although this is true, I believe that the laws are not punishing these people enough. I also think that once a new family adopts an animal, the families should be entitled to go through a background check just like if a child was being adopted.

The following are recent acts of cruelty.

  1. James Davis on September 26, 2009 duct-taped a cat now known as Sticky leaving her unable to move and dehydrated. He will only serve 2 years of imprisonment if convicted and a fine of at least 1000 dollars.
  2. Rishawn Levintino Morrison on October 9, 2009 held down a kitten that was only 6 weeks old known as Cuddles, while throwing rocks at her then decided to to light Cuddles on fire leaving Cuddles with 2nd degree burns. Cuddles died that sunday. If convicted he will be in prison for 2 years and a 5000 dollar fine.
  3. On October 25, 2009 two dogs named Leona and Emma were shot execution style for no reason. The people who did this sad act has not been found.
