This is for real.  I am a Latino, born and raised in San Francisco's Mission District.  I've been in law enforcement for 24 years.  11 years as a Juvenile Probation Officer and 14 plus years as a cop.  I still live in the city and still have a lot of the same old ass criminal friends.  I offer a blog of a unique perspective. I worked with gangs for 20 years.  I won't waste your time by recanting my work days.  I hope to comment on other issues of the day.  If I get any kind of response to this entry, I'll continue to write.

The issue of the day.  That crazy Army Major at Fort Hood, Texas.  Here is my "Homeboy Cop" point of view.
What a fucken coward.  Instead of facing his pending transfer to the Middle East, he decided on his personal "jihad" and killed soldiers that were deploying to and returning from WAR!  My first thought as a cop is how in the hell did he kill 13 and wound 30 with TWO  HANDGUNS?  He had to reload numerous times and been a hell of a shot.  You notice that very little has been said about his armament.  Two handguns,...  On a base of soldiers with machine guns.  What went wrong?  The truth is not being told.  My other perspective is this.
Believe me, I don't think government is god.  Nor do I think it is benevolent. I'm against war for oil.  The United States Army did nothing wrong in this case.  They accepted this "muslim" man as one of their own.  Look at the early interviews of the soldiers on the base.  They all expressed feelings of confusion and despair that one of their "own" had harmed them.  The U.S. army accepted him, educated him, trained him and he repaid it all with death and destruction.  He was a coward who will be canonized by muslims and condemned by americans.  In the end, I think he is just a crazy motherfucker.  Nothing more and nothing less.  The media will ride this for weeks at the expense of more important issues.  That's it.
I will also tell the "only in San Francisco" stories.  Do you know how difficult it is to be a cop in this city?  We have one Board of Supervisors member who is against cleaning up a crime and drug infested neighborhood (the Tenderloin), because even "junkies and prostitutes need a place to call home".  Chris Daly, an idiot.  It was announced today that the former member of the Police oversight board, who happens to be a former man (who fathered 3 children), now a full woman, will be running for the Board of Supervisors.  There is also a strong fear that the current Board of Supervisor member, Ross Mikarimi, will run for the Sheriffs office because he was once a District Attorney's investigator, fulfilling the requirement that the next Sheriff be a full fledged  Law Enforcement Officer.  The current one is not and in fact was once a prisoner advocate.
On top of it all, I am a proud Brown Latino man who hates racists.  Even if it's another cop.  I come from the hood so I treat everyone with respect until they prove they don't deserve it.  If this blog is of interest to you, holler back.
