This is a following from the message sent to me by my friend, Gerlinde and also a share from another new friend Rajna.

I put together a letter to send in Greek that I wrote in English and then had it translated in Greek.

Basically this is the story:-

In a village called Platanos,Municipality Archaias, Olympia GREECE

The most disgusting act of brutal cruelty

The incident happened 3rd January 2010. A resident of the village Plane tree (Platanos) in Ancient Olympia who is retired policeman tied a horse to  the back of his car with a view to “train it”. When the horse, could run no more it fell in the ground. This man continued dragging the horse for 2 kilometres and finally the horse was thrown into a ditch by the street. The neighbours, who saw what happened contacted the police, who did not take this atrocity seriously.

"Σε ένα χωριό Πλάτανος, Δήμος αρχαίας, Ολυμπία ΕΛΛΆΔΑ\n\nΗ πιο αηδιαστική πράξη βάρβαρη σκληρότητα\n\nΤο περιστατικό συνέβη 3 Ιανουαρίου 2010. Ένας κάτοικος του χωριού Πλάτανος (Πλάτανο&sigmaf στην Αρχαία Ολυμπία ο οποίος είναι συνταξιούχος αστυνομικός συνδέεται ένα άλογο στο πίσω μέρος του αυτοκινήτου του με σκοπό να «το τρένο\". Όταν το άλογο, δεν θα μπορούσε να τρέξει περισσότερο έπεσε στο έδαφος. Αυτός ο άνθρωπος συνέχισε σύροντας το άλογο για 2 χιλιόμετρα και, τέλος, το άλογο ήταν πέταξαν σε ένα χαντάκι με το δρόμο. Οι γείτονες, που είδε τι συνέβη σε επαφή με την αστυνομία, ο οποίος δεν έλαβε σοβαρά αυτής της θηριωδίας."

"\"Η κτηνιατρική υπηρεσία ενημερώθηκε χθες το πρωί από την κτηνιατρική κλινική. Από τη στιγμή που θα λάβουν την σχετική έκθεση θα κινηθεί οι διαδικασίες για την εφαρμογή της νομοθεσίας σχετικά με την κακομεταχείριση των ζώων », εξηγεί ο κ. Spyropoyloy.\n\nΜετά από αυτή την αρχική ιστορία υπήρξαν αρκετά ενοχλητικό σχόλιο αναφέρει ότι ο υπεύθυνος άνθρωπος ήταν μεθυσμένος - ότι πρέπει η αστυνομία δήλωσε ότι πρόκειται για ένα ατύχημα - και\n\nέχουν ασκηθεί δεν επιβαρύνσεις"

“The veterinary Service was informed yesterday the morning from the veterinary clinic. As soon as I will receive the relative report will move the processes for application of legislation with regard to the ill-treatment of animal” explains Mr Spyropoyloy.

Following on from this initial story there have been several disturbing comment stating that the man responsible was drunk - that the police have declared this to be an accident - and no charges have been brought.

There is no justification for such a shocking inhuman cruelty to an innocent and defenseless animal. One reason that this man is one of the police service should be punished even more as he should be setting an example for the rest of the community. And to be intoxicated should enliven even more punishment.

It has been proven by experts that cruelty to animals leads to crimes against
humans therefore this man is a danger to the community as a whole not just to animals.   Laws to protect animals are there for a reason and must be enforced and   strengthened if your country is to be represented as a humane and civilized nation.

I respectfully ask that this issue should be taken very seriously and please do what ever is necessary to charge and condemn this man.

This is an interesting story and I must agree that cruelty to animals may lead to cruelty to humans. If that was to happen the police might think twice the next time a cruelty of an animal is reported. You deserve more than a green star for this you need a medal!!!!!

This is totally unexceptable in any language. This piece of humane ( if in deed one can really call this it a humane) needs to be tied behind his truck, with the same rope and drug. That poor animal suffered horribly and for what? What crime did this little creature do to deserve this vicious punishment. I'm guessing nothing. That piece of walking vomit needs to be executed in the public square and the event filmed so animal abusers can see what they they need and SHOULD GET, put out of their miserable stinken useless existance.
Thank You for allowing me to comment and I'm hoping that you will make a prime example of this black mark on your city and I'm hoping that just because he is a retired policeman, that your city and government aren't giving him special treatment. On the contrary he should get more sevier treatment as he is a retired policeman.

A ese ser tan vil que arrastro a su caballo le deberian hacer lo mismo y que muriera igual.
Al menos que le caiga un castigo ejemplar y ademas no pueda tener mas animales nunca.
A ver si se endurecen las leyes para los que abusan de los animales indefensos y nobles y dejan de ser los humanos los que puedan hacer lo que se les antoje como si los demas seres no tuvieran derecho a ser respetados.

Many older Care 2 member would remember Tyson who was imprisoned at a roadside zoo in Canada.  There were many newspaper articles written about him. Most animal welfare organizations became involved in trying to save Tyson, not even, at the time...
