The heart-breaking reports from Port-au-Prince speak not just to the tragic affects of the 7.0-magnitude earthquake on January 12th but also to the perpetual poverty and poor health that keep Haiti at the economic bottom of our hemisphere.  It doesn't have to be that way. GAVI Alliance partners have mobilized to lend a hand today and to help lay the groundwork for a new Haiti in the months to come.  This special edition of Communiqué reports on their efforts and how you can be a part of this humanitarian response. "As one of the first low-income countries to receive GAVI support in 2000, Haiti is a close partner of the Alliance," notes CEO Julian Lob-Levyt. Please read his full statement and share any questions or suggestions concerning the Haiti relief effort. Thank you in advance for your help.
