My admittance to I.Y. College, Jogeshwari came as a total surprise. Well let me put it this way, I had just arrived in India in 1976 for the first time from Afrika, without having the slightest clue what India was all about.

As I was several months late, it was impossible to obtain admission in any science/arts college in Mumbai. Luckily, through some persons suggestion, we were directed to this campus in Jogeshwari. I can recall clearly, the uphill breathtaking and painstaking long walk to the well concealed college and hostel.

This walk, surprisingly enough, helped relieve students from city stress and anxiety and refreshed them for their lectures. The inconspicuous beauty lied chiefly in its lush green surroundings encapsulating the pristine campus, including the mens hostel, gymkhana, and the basketball courts.

I.Y. College had been renowned for its academic excellence and fine faculty, churning out out some fine students in the fields of science and arts. The students came from diversified backgrounds which gave the campus more color.

To my surprise, on passing the F.Y.Science exam (Bombay University) from I.Y. College, the Ministry of Education in New Delhi allotted me an engineering seat in R.E.C. Warangal.

Even after almost thirty years, with Gods grace, the memories of I.Y. College are still vivid. Jogeshwari had been a turning point in my life.

I definitely owe this Institute my gratitude. This site would further jump start memories by sharing former students’ experiences. Thank you Mumbai University, I.Y. College, Faculty members, and students
