How many of us are familiar with this I wonder? Bullying is a horrid torture for anyone to endure.  It breaks down the spirit and fractures the psyche - in the worst cases the psyche actually shatters resulting in bizarre thoughts which ultimately result in the unneeded death of someone and the seemingly eternal pain and sadness of their family.

However, what would you do if could stop such sadness? What would you do if you saw a fellow human being suffering under such harshness.  Would you stand up for them? Would you listen to them, offer them solace?

It's an unfortunate truth that many of us have witnessed others being harassed by others and we just wander on, turning a deaf ear.  It is an even more unfortunate truth that many of us who have done this have heard about the suicides of such victims.  For those with a conscience, they are wracked with guilt, constantly questioning themselves: "Could I have done something to save them?"  Sadly, such a question could never be answered.

So, the next time you see someone being bullied please do not hesitate in helping in them as you could very well be saving their life.

If it weren't for Phoebe Prince, then 44 states of America wouldn't have passed legislature which prohibited bullying online and offline.  Rest in Peace Phoebe and all other victims of bullying.  It appears your pain was not in vain.
