My mother has was diagnosed with ALS on May 5, 2005. Since that time she has gotten progressively worse, and it is quite difficult to watch her loose her freedom. I hope that anyone who is affected by this disease will please feel free to share their feelings. I have many emotions, which you are sure to eventually read about. For now I want to ask anyone who can relate or provide some words of encouragement to those who are suffering to please add your blog.

It's nice (in a bittersweet way) to find someoneelse who has been affected by this disease. My cousin is in the later stages of ALS and it was awful to see someone so full of life struck down in the prime of her life (at only 31 and while pregnant).
It seems this is a poorly known and little talked about disease, so it's great that this group is here.

When I was growing up in
France, sugar came in the
form of small rectangles
or squares for use in
coffee or tea. You would
buy a kilo of sugar all
wrapped up in a cardboard
box which would, in turn,
fit snuggly in a metal
sugar box. This
