In Whom Do You Trust? Christians aren’t given a free pass in this world. We face the same disappointments and struggles, as do unbelievers. Yet, we who trust in the Lord have an advantage- not in the absence of trouble but in the presence of a Savior! Let’s not seek to escape trouble like a bird fleeing to the mountains. Let’s prove our trust in the Lord by taking refuge in Him. We need not rely on others or even our own cleverly designed plans of action when we feel the enemy upon us. The words of the psalmist reveal he had learned to trust the Lord in tumultuous times. He had learned retreat isn’t an option for those who trust in the Lord’s provision. The Christian life is often lived on the run but never in retreat. With the rights of Christians disappearing as quickly as a cookie in the hands of a child, we must hear and heed this message. Don’t turn back or look for safety in counterfeit retreats. God’s call isn’t always a call to activism, but it’s always a call to trust in Him. Father, I will not run or retreat but trust in your power.
