There’s something almost magical about seeing AcroYoga in action. The first time I was introduced to the practice was at the Power to the Peaceful Festival in Golden Gate Park. I was so amazed by the poses and the coordination between the flyer and the base, I just had to try it myself. A couple weeks later I attended a basics workshop where I was partnered up with another yogi to begin exploration into the world of AcroYoga. I had so much fun at the workshop I couldn’t wait to ‘ play’ some more. It’s like a whole new world of yoga had been opened up for me. This past weekend I attended an AcroYoga intensive workshop where we practiced more flying and were introduced to counterbalances and other acrobatic techniques. My favorite part is the interaction with the other students. I went away from the two-day weekend event with friends that I share common interests with. A normal yoga class doesn’t usually give you that type of bonding experience with the other students in the class. AcroYoga practice is rooted in trust and confidence. The poses and exercises are designed to help you build that relationship with your partners.

So what’s next? Well, my new friends and I plan to get together in the park to practice all our new tricks. We're also hoping to attend a retreat in the future...Hawaii maybe??
