and now alejandro waits in the zocalo -- like the others at their plantones -- hes waiting for an impasse, a change, an exit, a way forward, a way out, a solution

-- waiting for the earth to shift and open

-- waiting for november when he can sit with his loved ones on the day of the dead and share food and drink and a song

-- waiting for the plaza to turn itself over to him and burst

-- he will only wait until morning but tonight he is waiting for the governor and his lot to never come back

-- one more death
-- one more martyr in a dirty war
-- one more time to cry and hurt
-- one more time to know power and its ugly head
-- one more bullet cracks the night

-- one more night at the barricades -- some keep the fires -- others curl up and sleep

-- but all of them are with him as he rests one last night at his watch

From 'Death in Oaxaca', Brad Will, October 16, 2006

Brad had frequently put himself at risk to bring the truth to those that would listen and to help protect others.
On October 27th, Brad was documenting the travesty that is Oaxaca, Mexico. It would be his last as he was murdered by pro-government forces.

Sadly, Brad's death received very little mention in the main-stream media and has actually been used to justify more oppresion by the Mexican government against those he died trying to help.

Please note Foxy's news submission to help bring this story of to the front page.

This time the bullet cold rocked ya
A yellow ribbon instead of a swastika
Nothin' proper about ya propaganda
Fools follow rules when the set commands ya
Said it was blue
When ya blood was read
That's how ya got a bullet blasted through ya head

Blasted through ya head
Blasted through ya head

I give a shout out to the living dead
Who stood and watched as the feds cold centralized
So serene on the screen
You were mesmerised
Cellular phones soundin' a death tone
Corporations cold
Turn ya to stone before ya realise
They load the clip in omnicolour
Said they pack the 9, they fire it at prime time
Sleeping gas, every home was like Alcatraz
And mutha fuckas lost their minds

Just victims of the in-house drive-by
They say jump, you say how high
Just victims of the in-house drive-by
They say jump, you say how high

Run it!

Just victims of the in-house drive-by
They say jump, you say how high
Just victims of the in-house drive-by
They say jump, you say how high

Checka, checka, check it out
They load the clip in omnicolour
Said they pack the 9, they fire it at prime time
Sleeping gas, every home was like Alcatraz
And mutha fuckas lost their minds

No escape from the mass mind rape
Play it again jack and then rewind the tape
And then play it again and again and again
Until ya mind is locked in
Believin' all the lies that they're tellin' ya
Buyin' all the products that they're sellin' ya
They say jump and ya say how high
Ya brain-dead
Ya gotta fuckin' bullet in ya head

Just victims of the in-house drive-by
They say jump, you say how high
Just victims of the in-house drive-by
They say jump, you say how high

Uggh! Yeah! Yea!

Ya standin' in line
Believin' the lies
Ya bowin' down to the flag
Ya gotta bullet in ya head

Ya standin' in line
Believin' the lies
Ya bowin' down to the flag
Ya gotta bullet in ya head

A bullet in ya head
A bullet in ya head
A bullet in ya head
A bullet in ya head
A bullet in ya head
A bullet in ya head
A bullet in ya head
A bullet in ya head
A bullet in ya head!
A bullet in ya head!
A bullet in ya head!
A bullet in ya head!
A bullet in ya head!
A bullet in ya head!
A bullet in ya head!
Ya gotta bullet in ya fuckin' head!

SO, SAD BRAD SHOULD DIE FIGHTING FOR OTHERS NEEDING HELP !!!! HOWEVER, THE TRUTH WILL COME ONE DAY OR ANOTHER !! FOR SURE !! I KNOW, A DEATH OF A MARTYR, LIKE BRAD, WILL CAUSE MORE , THAN IF AN ARMY OR THE WHOLE WORLD WOULD HAVE TRIED TO HELP THE NEEDING ONES !! JESUS DID NOT DIE FOR ALL OF US, IN VAIN, NOR DID BRAD !!!!

Tell me, are you in Mexico? I am and I can tell that Brad's death was in the News and many people feel sorry... for him and for ourselves as well. I wonder what is happening to my beloved country and why things are getting so bad. I just hope that his death is never forgotten.

Hello Laura,
No, I'm not in Mexico. At least in the English news papers and press here in the US, there has been very little mention of the turmoil that is affecting Mexico at the moment. I happened to hear of Brad's death only because I also listen to some of the non-mainstream news such as as that provided at democracynow.org which has had much better coverage of the events in Mexico for quite some time.

These seem to be very tumultuous times for so many people. Even as you wonder how things got to how they are in Mexico, I wonder the same about my own country and hope for the future's sake, that none of us forget the events we're witnessing.

The situation in Oaxaca really interests/ed me. Before and after the police attack I posted stories on the C2 news network that were not very noted and did not attract very much attention. I still can't understand why!
These Mexicans are engaged in a courageous struggle and it should cause an international outcry that it is being violently repressed.

This link takes you to a new post which includes a great video about the struggle of people in Oaxaca, called "Prisoners of 'Democracy'" The film records Subcomandante Marcos' visit to those in prison on false charges and his meetings with others to hear their griefs and work out a program.

Do note this submission so that we can bring this story to the front page.
