There was a time when life SEEMED simple!! Now that feels like another lifetime altogether... For many years I lived in the City... Following the path of 'least resistance'. Until the fateful day when I awoke from that endless nightmare!!
To escape from the oppressions of Blue Collar Society AND the horribly fast pace of the "Rat Race".. I took a drive in the country to uplift my soul!! The impact was far more enlightening! It revived in me a dream long forgotten.. the dream of being one with nature! Before long I had packed up the kids and the house, left my abusive husband and moved to the country!
My first True Awakening came 4 years ago when I waged war on my EX Back yard neighbor.. he owned 200 acres of beautiful forest and swamps filled with wildlife and was intending on tearing it all down for 'Progress'. It was a place my rescued pup and I walked for hours each day... tracking all different animals just to see if we could catch a glimpse.. On MANY occasions we were followed by deer, fox and the occasional coyote!! I just loved getting lost in there for hours... it was such a beautiful peaceful place!
The neighbor hood was in an uproar about the impending destruction.. but even though they complained very loudly to each other.. No one would stand up, fearing the consequences from the land owner!! Determined to do whatever I COULD... I printed out blank petition forms and proceeded to knock on all the doors I could reach.. (side note. I was/and am, recovering from being hit by a car 3 years prior and have problems walking distances unaided!) Although alone in my quest, I DID manage to get the Quebec Government involved and the developer was obliged to preserve 100 acres as 'wet lands'. Half the battle was won..
2 Months ago I received a call from a man who had seen the article in the paper about my 'intervention' 4 years ago and had decided to pick up where I left off.. He's now recognized as the official liason to our local government and making much progress in the preservation of our local forests/wetlands!!
moral?? ALL our actions have consequences.. and it's nice to see that SOME actually work for the GOOD!! ;o)
Enjoy Your day!!! Zero

There was a fair country,
free to the core,
but this fair country
soon wanted more.
Like a pirate, with
treasure in hand;
invading, exploring far
away land.
This fair country with so
much pleasure,
had their own
