Social Security increase

I just joined Connected Senior Citizens on this site and I posted this about social security.  I then have found your group also so I wanted to join it.

Here is an article I read in the ARP Bulletin for November 2006. It is word for word. I thought it was worth sharing. "COLA Set for 2007"
"Social Security checks will go up 3.3 percent in 2007, pushing the average monthly benefit for retired workers from $1,011 to $1,044 - a $33 increase. The cost-of-living adjustment, or COLA, was 4.1 percent in 2006. The increase in the COLA affects 53 million people. Average benefits for a couple will go up from $1,658 to $1,713, for an older widow or widower, from $976 to $1,008; and for a disabled worker, from $947 to $979, Nearly a third of retires depend on Social Security for almost all their income."
