As the holidays come to a close its very important to reflect on the past year, in what progress we've made, on our growth, and on what we've individually accomplished. Its important because I've found that it is amazing the difference that a year can make.
Even if 2006 has been filled with painful challenges and hardships its still important to focus on what you've done and where its taken you. Sometimes we need painful experiences in order for us to wake up to become aware of changes that need to made in order for us to move forward.
It is my personal belief that we all hit bottom at some point in our lives.
We then:
Crawl upward, out of it - to meet our stronger selves, who are waiting for us on the other end.
Or we live there for a while until we're finally miserable enough to start climbing.
However, there are of course the perpetrators of abuse and violence, who likewise live there. But they spend their lives trying to drag others down with them, whether it be their spouses, children, or the individual victims they're sometimes known to hunt for.
In reading Amber Lisa's archive I've noted that she is a perfect example of someone whos made this climb upward. However, instead of stopping upon meeting her stronger self on the other end, shes continued upward to fight for those still at the bottom. I hope that in reading about her journey that you find hope for continuing on yours. And, as you reflect on your own struggles, I ask that you help others with their's. It has a miraculous way of lightening the load of your own burdens.
Thanks to each of you The Survivor Archive's project is continuing upward. Whether you've offered to write an archive to share, reposted bulletins, or if you've just read those submitted for you're own benefit (which is very important), you've helped us. You've made this a very exciting year for me.
I wish you all hope, peace, and joy in the new year approaching.
