Both teams Oakland Raiders and San Francisco 49ers will face each other in their San Francisco 49ers vs Oakland Raiders match of NFL first preseason week on 20th Aug, 2011. And the match will be held at New Meadowlands Stadium on Saturday.

San Francisco was the favorites in the NFC West last year, but after a 6-10 season cost the team its head coach, the 49ers are looking to Jim Harbaugh to revive the once proud franchise . The Raiders on the other hand were did not expect to do much last year, but the team went 8-8 and are looking to build on that success and parlay it into an appearance in the NFL playoffs this season.

Last week the 49ers offense was miserable in a 24–3 defeat to the New Orleans Saints. The team tried out a veteran quarterback this week after the shaky play of Alex Smith, but if the offense line play doesn’t improve, it won’t matter who is playing QB on the team. San Francisco managed just 234 yards, but the six sacks and two turnovers just compounded problems. Look for the 49ers offense to change things up this week against a Raiders defense that was torched last week on several occasions.

The Raiders offense was the highlight in the team’s 24–18 loss to the Arizona Cardinals as all three quarterbacks played well. The running game is hurting without Darren McFadden, but he is expected to return before the NFL regular season begins. The defense last week surrendered 400 yards and had just one sack against a Cardinals team that struggled all of last season to score points. Look for the team to come out more aggressive against the poor offensive line of the 49ers and try to force mistakes.

The “Battle of the Bay” was won by the 49ers last year 28–24 and it was very entertaining for a preseason contest. Both teams have issues that need improving, so look for the coaches to change things up this week and try to build some momentum heading into the NFL regular season.
