Unfortunatelly many have been KILLED by the NYC ACC very early this Morning BUT if u want to save a Kitty then please go to the New York City Shelter now and do so-they are open untill 19:00 hrs.

If u want to apply to be a foster with a Rescue please apply with them now, call and/or email them and fill out their Foster Application if they have one.

u want to save a Kitty from tonights KILL LIST (which will not b posted untill at least 5-6 p.m. USA-N.Y. Time), then its also better to register with a Rescue bc some of the Cats, espec. young Kittens can also only b Pulled by a Rescue via the Acc's Policies.

**************How To Find A Rescue To Help You Save A Cat On Death Row***************

Getting a rescue to help you is a TIME SENSITIVE as well as a TIME INTENSIVE process. If you are not yet an approved foster/adopter with a rescue, you must make that your first priority if you want to be successful in saving a cat or kitten.

For a rescue to call the shelter and have them "hold" the cat, you will need to have contacted the rescue and submitted a completed foster/adoption application to that rescue before 6-8 AM of the day an animal is scheduled to be euthanized. A rescue must have approved you before they will act on your request to call the shelter to "hold" the cat. Remember, though, that submitting an application is not a guarantee that the rescue will approve it. That should not be a reason for not applying and giving up . . . you won't know unless you try. And if you care about the cat or kitten, you'll try.

Rescues will not come to you. They're so busy saving animals that they generally don't have time to sift through Facebook pages looking for who wants to save a particular cat in a particular shelter on a particular day.

That doesn't mean they don't care about the cat or about you. They DO care. But they ask that you be the one to initiate the process with them by applying.

Finding a rescue to help you can be time consuming, which is why there's a list provided for you below of ones to start with first.

Remember, rescue groups WANT to save cats, too, but that you need to apply.

The applications aren't difficult to complete. You'll find links to them for them included with each rescue group's information.

IF YOU EMAIL A RESCUE:

1.
In your email's SUBJECT LINE state the following: WANTING RESCUE APPROVAL FOR [CAT NAME] [cat's shelter ID NUMBER] and [shelter location]

2.
In your message include the following:
All contact info for yourself, including name, email and phone.

3.
Explain to them that the animal is on the ACC euthanasia list for the next morning and that you would like to foster/adopt.

No need for lots of other details--you'll provide those on the application form.

REMEMBER THIS PROCESS IS TIME SENSITIVE!!

A SPECIAL NOTE ABOUT KITTENS: If you want to foster or adopt kittens, you need to know that ALL kittens weighing under 2 pounds and those younger than 8 weeks MUST be pulled by a rescue. Mothers, if available, MUST be pulled with their kittens.

A SPECIAL NOTE ABOUT SERIOUSLY ILL OR INJURED CATS: If you want to foster or adopt a seriously ill or injured cat, you MUST also do so with the help of an approved rescue. And even then it may not be possible.
