I am writing to express my deepest anguish, anger and sadness at the slaughter and annual catch of dolphins are currently taking place in the Japanese town of Taiji. We begged for the lives of these dolphins. These fighters are brutally cruel, totally unnecessary and has no place in the XXI century.
Japan is a modern and beautiful. It has the history and the ability to become a world leader in marine conservation. It's a shame that the reputation of an entire nation tarnished by the shameful acts of a handful of men and women in Taiji.
The dolphins are not fish and should not refer to them as a fishery. They are not chickens or cows. The dolphins are not pets, wild creatures that help make life in the oceans to be prosperous and healthy. Dolphins are mammals, breathe air and have the same feelings of pain, sadness and joy as humans. They are intelligent beings with complex social self-consciousness and shame that is not showing compassion for them. Even nursing mothers, pregnant women and babies ("Iruka") are mercilessly slaughtered or condemned to suffer a life of misery in tiny tanks in aquariums. In the world of civilized nations, no wild animal is eradicated in Japan as he does with the dolphins. Even fish are subject to size restrictions for his capture.
As a representative of Japan in my country, I ask you please to ask the Japanese government and people of Taiji cessation of the brutal slaughter that only serves to tarnish the reputation of his country and people. Meanwhile, we will continue spreading around the world the atrocities committed every year in Taiji.
We love Japan and its people, its ancient culture and wisdom, but we can not support a nation that allows this cruelty to inflict socially complex species in danger and threats such as dolphins and whales.
The Japanese government has the power to stop hunting and humbly ask you to ask your representatives to work together toward a resolution to end once and for all the slaughter of dolphins in Taiji.
Taiji can become a mecca for tourism if you stop the slaughter of dolphins. Japan is much more rich and powerful once put an end to the extermination of whales and dolphins.
イルカ 追い込み 猟 が 日本 の 恥 です. 世界 が 見 てる - hunting dolphins brings dishonor to Japan. The world is watching.
Dear Sir, I write to you as a concerned citizen wishing to ensure that our lives are not continued to be put at risk.
This is something that you are allowing by continuing to allow your fishermen to kill in UNSUSTAINABLE numbers. The oceans and the lives in it DO NOT belong to you, they are in desperate need of YOUR HELP and PROTECTION.
PLEASE consider this. Without strong bio-diversity and continued protection and sustainable use, the oceans are at risk of dying. If they do, we do
I LOVE Japan and most of the Japanese people because I have only met 'good and kind people', but I see what you allow your fishermen to do and they DO BRING GREAT SHAME TO YOU & YOUR COUNTRY.
The world IS watching and your businesses suffering because people will NOT support anyone connected with the killing of dolphins, whales and unsustainable fishing.
PLEASE, we are helping you and your nation to recover from the great tragedies since the Tsunami and radiation leaks, and I ask you to consider what you can now do to repay this kindness.
It is time to make changes, and there is continued help being offered from many nations, individuals and organisations. These fishermen do NOT have to suffer by making changes, but changes must be made if you are to be considered a 'forward thinking' leader of your nation.
I send this message with love and great hope that you will please consider.
With respect and thanks for taking the time to read and consider this, and a great desire for change and 'social progress' in your beautiful country
We are outraged by the annual brutal slaughter of dolphins and whales that takes place in Japan . The images of bloody red water clearly show the world that Japan has little respect for the state of the world’s oceans and for the conservation of the marine resources it claims to support.
Many scientific studies show that the oceans are in decline. We must take whatever actions are necessary to stop their over-exploitation and to protect the creatures that live in them. These dolphins do not belong to Japan . The status of the species of dolphins and whales that you kill are either endangered, threatened, or unknown. It is an unthinkable waste that they will likely end up as a meat product or deceptively sold as whale meat, polluted with toxic levels of mercury and cadmium, killing people that eat it. It is tragic and unacceptable that the remaining dolphins that are not killed will end up destined for death in an aquarium, water park, or "swim with dolphins" program.
In addition, the methods used to kill these animals are cruel.
Corralling the dolphins into bays, then making them suffer a long and painful death by spears, hooks, and drowning is an inhumane way of fishing. This action is disgraceful and has caused much disappointment in the international community.
We demand that Japan permanently and immediately renounce and stop this slaughter. We will work diligently to bring this issue to international light until you have ceased your reprehensible violence.
