Last Christmas, people seemed not to have a heart or we were too busy to notice that they did...?
This year, have no fear, everyone is back on the right track!
Take the initiative of a hospital specializing in sick children somewhere up north just for a first example now - they called their campaign "offrez la lumière" which literally means "to gift LIGHT" as in gifting hope, love, joy and promptly changing the lives of the children hospitalized there and their families at this most crucial time of the year that is the Holidays; the time of the year in which we all need our hopes renewed, our resolve strengthened and our hearts warmed over again with happiness, warmth and just a hint of that undefinable thing that they call "the magic of Christmas".
Click on the luminous tree below to see the actual glimmering tree live, through the lens of the NoelCogecoCam, set up right in front of the hospital and lit up every evening at 4:20pm exactly...
Clicking on that tree will also give you the opportunity to donate to this campaign - a mere 5$ will be enough to make a difference and it is all that is asked of you! If you've already made a donation, you will be able to trace back the message that was left attached to it! Truly luminous all around...!
But the only luminous thing going around this Christmas Time...!
Elsewhere, perhaps to shed their image so recently tarnished due to some sore losers on the night Beantown won, VanCity has been extremely generous to all the needy, all the poor this Christmas Season:
In and by itself any act of charity is sort of a miracle in these secular days of rampant commercialism and neo-centric consumerism - especially during the Festive Days (they do seem to be more than twelve) that we are in the midst of at blogging time here...!
And yet, verily, there is no greater miracle than the one we are supposed to remember on this day, in this season - and no more generous gift than the one Gifted to us by God for the Salvation of humankind!
Christmas cheer and Holiday magic may be all you truly seek though - this year as every other year in recent memory... It is the most wonderful time of the year - it is a celebration of love that supersedes that of St-Valentine and it is far more assembling than any other special day of the year...
Yes, you can always have nothing but fun come Christmas Time
Party on, eat, drink, feast as it is a Great Feast and the quintessential Festive Season indeed
You can always watch some of the classics come Christmas Time and have a good laugh with friends and family:
Or you can focus on the BEST - the best Reason for this Season - and the connection that was made between the slow, progressive return of light into our lives via longer daylight hours starting now, with the winter solstice, and the Light that Returns to us each time we invite Him to - The Light that is, was and shall be and that will Return in Glory to each and every one of us that accepts His Sacrifice for us - verily *the* reason why He Came to be born in a manger in the very first place!
To give us Light.
This Light:
For the parallel between both lights is a given and it only makes sense to honor it - even if Christ was born in July or some other date like it...!
Thus... CELEBRATE IT IN EUROPE CELEBRATE IN THE AMERICAS CELEBRATE DOWN UNDER AND CELEBRATE IN BOTH POLES! CELEBRATE IT IN THE THIRD WORLD CELEBRATE IN THE LOST PARADISE CELEBRATE ON EVERY OCEAN AND ON EVERY PEAK! CELEBRATE IT WITH GREAT CHANTS AND BEAUTIFUL MUSIC - CELEBRATE IT IN LOUD VOICE AND NOT JUST AT THE MIDNIGHT MASS!
CELEBRATE IT ALL YEAR THROUGH IN YOUR HEART TOO! +++
