Sheri's Sharebook 

The saddest thing -- in the library the other day,
A boy in the beginning years of school,
brought a familiar preschool title to his mother, and asked if he could
check it out.
You could tell it was a favorite,
That the book resonated throughout his body by the way he clutched it..
The mother quickly turned, took one look and said,

"No that is a baby book, you need to get others."

She didn't even look at his face, or see the hunger for the book he held
Perhaps it was a feeling he had when younger,
perhaps the book reminded him of a family situation
perhaps he just needed a friend..

yet this mother denied her son.... by ridiculing his choice
in front of a room of strangers....

It was so very sad... as he put the book back on the table,
as if a death had occurred..
