CAN YOU EARN SALVATION BY BEING GOOD TO YOUR HEIGHBOR?
Feb 14, 2012
I am a son of God and do not have to prove all over again to any man by saying I need to see the Lord to be the son of the Father as some say. Once you have accepted Jesus into your life as your personal savior, at that moment, you become a son of God the Father.
Jesus preached the Sermon OnThe Mount starting with Matt. 5:3 and finishes with Matt.7:27 Someone quoted Matt.5:43 "You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.'
44But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you,
45that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.
The key point was in verse 45that you may be sons of your Father in Heaven;
The rest of the verse gives insight as to what was meant by that statement. “and sends rain on the just and on the unjust”. To believe that this is what you have to do to be a son of God exclusively isridiculous. The verses that follow are meant to show a one on one relationship with Jesus Christ and how one is saved and receives eternal life. It is not a corporate experience. You are not saved by the works of keeping the Law.That makes it corporate and a false doctrine.
The Apostle Paul tells us what we are commanded to do in Romans.
Romans 10:9that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
And by what process do we receive this hope of salvation? Read what the Apostle Peter says and again what Paul says in 1 Corinthians 15.
1 Peter 1:3Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
1 Corinthians 15:1Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand,
2by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you --- unless you believed in vain.
3For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,
4and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures,
The Apostle John adds to this teaching.
John 5:24"Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.
1 John 5:13These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.
John 20:31but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.
John 5:39You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me.
John 3:15that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.
The Apostle Paul sums it up very plainly that eternal life is a gift of God.
Romans 1:13For "whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved."
Romans 6:23For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
There is nothing more dear, intimate, or important than being sanctified by Christ living in you.
Romans 8:9But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.
10And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
11But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.
How much more plain can it be. Our righteousness before Christ as God says in Isaiah 64:6 “But we are all like an unclean thing, And all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags;”.
Here is that great mystery revealed, that Jesus Christ dwells in you and you in Him and it is His Spirit, His faith, and His righteousness dwelling in you that makes you a son of the Father in heaven.
I pray that if you have not allowed Christ into your life, please do so now!
Confess to Him that you have sinned and come short of the glory of God and want Jesus living in you now and you will receive the Holy Spirit and become a son of God.
Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Your citizenship is now in heaven above all the earth. God bless you!
