A trip to the local supermarket last night turned into an educational lesson for my husband when he picked up a 4 pack of cotton soft toilet paper and put it in the trolley. To which I responded promptly by removing and putting back on the shelf in favour of grabbing the more expensive sorbent toilet paper. Naturally he questoned why I would do that when we could get the toilet paper $2 cheaper. I told him cotton soft are not sustainably manufacturing their product and he scoffed at me what do you know about their business practises. Which clearly i know alot more than him. I explained to him how Asia pulp and paper are leading the way in deforestation and of destroying the natural habitat of the sumatran tiger. I think his eyes were widened because he had no more to say on the subject. When I got home he questoned me about why i am so intolerant of unsustainable practises, homelessness, caged eggs, recycling etc and i said because if I acheive nothing else in my life i would like to be able to make a difference to the earth and maybe one or two people will survive because I helped. I dont think he agreed with me but was wise enough not to make comment. I can only hope eventually he get the message and lends me a hand in living a more sustainable eco friendly lifestyle.
