As an interfaith ministry, we at Essentials of Life Holistic Enrichment Center do not put forth an opinion as to matters of theology.  We do refer to scripture, but which scripture is up to the individual, as is how to interpret the meaning of it.  The main focus of the Essentials of Life Holistic Enrichment Center is the enrichment of Life in all its expressions, i.e., body, spirit and mind.

So, when we refer to scripture, it is in order to reach the reader with words which are sacred to them, and it may also be a reflection particular to the writer's orientation of belief, or to their background of understanding and knowledge.  With this in mind, it is upon me to write a message at this time of Easter.  I will do my best to express some of how the message of Easter can be applied to the enrichment of body, spirit and mind.

As a child growing up, I'd have to say Easter was my favorite holiday.  Christmas, of course, was absolutely wonderful!  That goes without saying!  I even saw Santa's sleigh one time in the sky!  (My Dad pointed it out to me, and it was amazing, for sure!)  Birthdays with pink cakes and presents were really nice, too, but nothing beat all the colors of Easter for me!

We
went to church every Sunday, but Easter was special.  I always got to wear my shiny shoes and a pretty new dress!  Before church we had an egg hunt at home in true egg hunt style!  I remember having to follow clues to find my Easter basket.  We had the same tradition when my own kids were young!

The best part was coloring eggs.  (Being a vegan now, I'd like to suggest you consider paper mache eggs as a more humane tradition to start in your family this year, or something like that!)  I remember the Easter lilies and tulips, the church service, the hymns.  I remember the image of Jesus on the cross and every year, we watched "The Robe" on TV.  I remember the Sunday School lessons, the sermons and the explanations given by my Mom and Dad.

My parents were both raised Methodist and were quite active in the church for years, and they always sang in the choir.  We had many theological discussions at home.  My uncle was a Methodist minister, too, and we would often visit with them.  Then later my parents joined a different church, one which was and still is controversial in some ways today.

(Should I name it?  Oh, my!  It might offend som
e of my readers!)  Okay.  Here goes.  I was raised in the Unity Church from the age of 12 onward, and I took to it very well.

So.  Now some of my readers have left.  You see, Unity is thought by many to be a false religion.  To me it is just the way I believe.  For the most part.  But that's the thing.  In Unity I was taught to take what rang true in my heart and to leave the rest on the shelf.  So I guess when I say, "for the most part," that I'm really still professing it as the way I believe.  BUT...this is NOT a Unity Church!  I also have belonged to the Congregational and Unitarian Churches.  (Two churches founded on religious freedom.)  So what?  I enjoy still today visiting many different churches of many religions and taking good away from each one!  For the most part they all have the same message of love and peace.

But this is a Univ
ersal Life Church, and thus my opinions really mean nothing here insofar as how to believe!  I believe in the right of the individual to believe as they see fit more than anything else!  That's why this is such a good format to talk about God's Gifts of Healing, because God's Gifts of Healing are meant for all.

But back to the story of Easter, I believe beyond everyone's debate about what really happened that day, if anything happened, and whether the Easter bunny is good or bad, that the most important thing to understand is the message of Life that Easter brings.

Life.  Life rising up again even after a hideous death.  How is this even possible?  It is if you are one with God, for God is Life, and Life never dies.  Jesus' message was to accept and cling to your Oneness with God against all odds, against everything that speaks contrary to this.  God is Love, God is Good, God is Peace, God is Life.  These are the things Jesus taught...principles which are prevalent in all religions...Methodist, Unity, Catholic, Baptist, Mormon, Christian Science,  Buddhist, Native American, Pagan, Hindu, Muslim, Jewish...The list goes on and on.  This is the basis of all peaceful and loving religions.  God is all knowing, all powerful, everlasting and unconditional love.

Jesus demonstrated Unconditional Love throughout his ministry and especially when he asked forgiveness for those that crucified him.  This is the type of Love that will save us.  He couldn't have risen above this if he had been unable to forgive in this way
" And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary,Vibraceous, ND"

Oh...and about those eggs.  Paper mache is the way to go!
