PROJECT X follows the story of three unpopular seniors, what you would consider as losers in your typical high school movie. The movie centers around Thomas, whose 17th birthday party is being thrown by his friend Costa with the help of his friend JB, Costa also hires an A/V geek from school named Dax , to film the whole thing because he wants everybody to never forget it. Whatever they had in mind for this party, nothing will prepare them to the massiveness that this event will become, this is the party your parents have nightmares of you throwing at your house. PROJECT X is the party that will make unknown kids like Thomas, Costa and JB legends in high school. Just so everybody knows, this film is rated R, go wonder why, things literally get out of control and the mayhem is all out of proportion.

The director, Nima Nourizadeh, makes his film debut with PROJECT X, the whole found-footage feel of the film, makes it seem real of course, so get ready for shaky cameras, and producer Todd Philips (“The Hangover&rdquo makes sure to give you that same “holy sh*t” feeling from when you watched the first THE HANGOVER. To me, PROJECT X is pretty much SUPERBAD on steroids. With 88 minutes of running time, you really don’t need any more time or less, you see how they plan the party, how the word gets out and things get completely out of hand. The movie to me was funny, not to the point that I couldn’t breathe, but funny enough to entertain me. Thomas, is the most average kid out of the crew, the normal one and the most likeable, Costa is the friend who thinks is cooler than the other two and often comes off as a jerk and JB by default is the fat friend who gets made fun of, a lot. While this movie stands alone as a comedy in the found footage department, it definitely had it’s funny moments, the dialogue between the characters is definitely something you’d hear teenagers say. This movie doesn’t aim to give you remarkable acting worthy of an award, or a lesson after the movie, the only thing it aims is to make you want to be at that party and it does it perfectly. From the music, to the WTF moments, more than one teenager will wish that they were at this party. When it comes to parents however, this is the movie they should NOT see.
