Dangerous Ishhq is story of Sanjana {Karishma Kapoor} a top model who loved a rich industrialist Rohan {Rajnish Duggal}. As they decide to get married Rohan is kidnapped and Sanjana survives with head injury. But after the injury she starts to see images which has her and Rohan, but in different get up. She along with her best friend Neetu {Divya Dutta} approaches a doctor who takes her in Past therapy. This therapy takes her to 1947 {Pakistan} and 1658 {Daultabad}. With help of these therapies she along with ACP Singh {Jimmy Shergil} tries to solve the kidnapping case. Will they succeed or she might lose Rohan in this birth too, well that what the entire film about.
Story has chapters from four different eras {2012, 1947, 1658 & 1535}. Few stories are average but the last one is superb. The makers have tried to connect the stories with real events like India Pakistan Partition, War with Aurangzeb, Meera Bai references and more. The first half is good but at times keeps dragging a bit, but as we move in second half the movie becomes more interesting and gripping. On the flip side besides the dragging point, few more cinematic liberties and overdose of forced drama {Loud dialog, Slow revealing of characters, etc} might turn you off. Camera work is good and one could find fewer errors in comparison with ‘Haunted’. The makers did try to work on the depth part this time with few out of screen scenes to please the mass audience {Hospital Wake up Scene, Jimmy falling in Trap, Swords and Guns coming out, etc}. Editing was fine and chapters have been woven in good way, but somewhere needed to be sharp and to the point.
Music by Himesh Reshamiya was soothing especially in songs like ‘Tu Hi Rab’, ‘Naina Re’ and ‘Rusva’. ‘Lagan Lagi’ and others were average. Background music was bit jarring and could have been better.
Vikram Bhatt tried to venture into a dramatic thriller {yes I won’t call this film as a Love Thriller} after a long time and has done a decent job. Wish he would have focused on the other actors and not only at Karishma Kapoor. The chapters and the whole past therapy were not convincing at all, but once you get hook of it you don’t mind it. We were expecting more twist and turns as the movie progressed and to certain extent the film maker managed to please us.
Karishma Kapoor was looking great, but one does wonder what the need for her to do this film was. Rajnish Duggal was wasted. Jimmy Shergil did a decent job, but not in comparison to his last superb work {Sahib Biwi Aur Gangster}. Divya Dutta, Ruslaan, Arya Babber, Sameer Kocher were good support. Ravi Kishen and Natasha Singha shined in the last track. It was shocking to see Gracy Singh in the role of Meera Bai.
The movie is not something unique or outstanding. But on dramatic level it’s not bad either. The makers manage to keep you hooked in the film. Won’t say the same for the twist and turns, as some might find them bit predictable. Still thanks to good drama, few 3D effects {for mass level} and gripping second half the movie though not dangerous but is bit interesting.
