This is a topic close to my heart and the stigma attached in this day and age is extreamly frustraing especally since politicions love to jump on the band waggon and save some money at the same time!

Mental health is very common and a lot of the common cases are more or less unnoticable because those with mental illness are NORMAL people. However those who do have mental illness will have the occasional personal issue and these personal issues are never fun, no matter what mental illness it is having an episode or personal issue is never ever easy and no it's really not fun to be seeing different coloured dots dancing infront of your eyes. When this happens you have a choice, risk people working out that you're not really having a good day(cause people mock when they find out you see things) or you take the day off to sort out your own head.

How many people can we afford to have take days off before it becomes a matter of national stablity. It might sound stupid or like I'm spinning conspercy theroies but seriosly think about it. How many people out there don't get help until they've already had something really bad happen? Me, I never got help until I was already using self harm as my 'go to' methord of therpy all because the stigma kept my mother on the 'it's hormones' parth. My future would have continued on my desired path if only she had let me get help three years before I tried to kill myself(the first time) because after I made that very stupid choice my life changed forever. Can we really afford to have people who dream of being a doctor, lawyer or ambulence driver make stupid choices like mine and distroy their 'quick road' to that future...soon enough every indestry will have people taking days off for mental illness and things will become unstable.

Mental Health is important for general health and genreal health is important for people to go to work and study to get to work. It is not okay to have people turning a blind eye and it's certionally not okay to have professional public figures passing it off as unimportant and to be cutting funds left right and center. People with mental illness are not crazy, they're not all seeing fea in the curtions and they're not all killers who are waiting to snap, they're simply people who are sick and with the right help they end up back on track and very healthy! So support Mental Health!

Yes, unfortunetly, you are right about the stigma surrounding mental health. Even in the nursing profession it is "the psychs" & the "proper nurses". We fight hard for our patients rights. When will it be realised that mental/physical & spiritual health go hand in hand.
