Slavery decays the humanity of our world, and many people still believe that slavery is no longer a major issue; they say it is only a figment of the past, a problem that has already been abolished, but the truth is the evils of slavery still exist today. A large percentage of Mauritania’s population is either considered as slaves or has a relative or friend who suffers from it, and because of this, the country in North Africa is at risk of having a civil war. Their lives are controlled by the ones who have a corrupted sense of judgment. It is imperative that we must take action to put an end to this country’s wrongdoings, and set the people of Mauritania free.
Many of us have the power to fight against this growing concern, but the nations of this world should choose to push their efforts to persecute the men who create this nightmare such as Colonel Taya and Dictator General Aziz, save the slaves, and create projects that would help prevent it from happening again. Many people are not aware of this problem or just don’t care. Now is the time for us to become more aware of this situation and become more active when it comes to abolishing slavery. There is not much time.
Human lives are dramatically affected each day, loved ones are lost, human rights are being crushed by authoritative and heartless figures whose primary concern is to profit from human trafficking and take advantage of the powerless. The freedom for this people could be reached, but only if we take charge and work together to fulfill the dreams of these people.
