This page is dedicated to Dali and his Melting Clocks! Dali's Persistence of Memory is one of the most iconic paintings of the 20th century. Dali tends to be classed as a Surrealist, and Andre Breton considered his concept of Paranoiac Criticism to be fundamental to Surrealism. In Paranoiac Criticism, the mind was allowed to wander freely and the artist painted what was in his mind, improvising as he went along out of a self induced paranoiac state..
Salvador Dali painted some great works including The Metamorphosis of Narcissus, which is a favourite of mine, and Christ of St John of the Cross.
Dali was also an exceptional draughtsman, as shown by his Bread Basket. Oil On Canvas but he is mostly known for those pesky melting pocket watches which have now manifested themselves as trendy household clocks. A whole industry has arisen making these clocks regular household items. I think this would have delighted Dali actually.
