Hi! Every time that I make these burgers for guests I have to give the recipe so decided to share it here. I don't always serve the sauce but I'll include it anyway. Enjoy. By the way I use any beans that I have available - all work equally well. I have also used jars of ready cooked beans and yeah, equally good burgers.
 Anyway.........

125g/4oz/1/3 cup aduki beans

125g/4oz/1/3 cup black-eye beans (peas)

6 tablespoons veg oil

1 large onion finely chopped

1 teaspoon yeast extract

125g/4oz grated carrot

90g/3oz/1 1/2 cups fresh wholemeal breadcrumbs

salt and pepper

2 tablespoons wholemeal flour

1 Place the beans in separate saucepans, cover with water and bring to boil. Simmer aduki for 40 mins and black eye for 50 mins until tender. Drain and rinse well:

2 Transfer to large bowl and mash with potato masher or fork

3 Heat 1 tbsp oil and fry onions until soft but not brown. Mix into beans, yeast extract, carrot, breadcrumbs and seasoning.

4 With wet hands divide the mixture into 6 equal portions  and form into burgers. Put the flour on a plate and use to coat the burgers.

5 Heat the remaining oil and cook the burgers for 3-4 minutes either side until crisp and golden.

Barbecue sauce

1/2 teasp chilli powder

1 teasp celery salt

2 tablesp light muscovado sugar

2 tablesp red wine vinegar

2 tablesp veg Wocestershire sauce

3 tablesp tomato purée (paste)

dash of tabasco

Mix all the ingredients together  and voilá!

Enjoy!
