Ever since I started to realize that most of trash I picked up on the beaches or river banks were not always from people at the shore or from boats. They were from cities and streets. Starting with Styrofoam cups, straws, bottle caps, and cigarrettes, there are tooth brushes, flosses, bee bee gun pellets, or sometimes, surgecal gloves and syringes. The trash on the side of a street in the middle of a busy city often ends up on a beach 30 miles away.
This is because we have underground storm drain system. What you see by the curbs or alleys gets washed down by rain or blown away by wind into the ocean. And there are animals that suffer from it. They become entagled by the trash or mistake it for food.
A volunteer dance group called "Dance 4 Oceans" raises awareness of trash pollution in the ocean through dance, music, art, and films. Dance 4 Oceans visits schools and communities to give presentations of our trash awareness program and show how to avoid ‘single-use’ plastics.
Dance 4 Oceans is planning to have a fun community event in this October. While participants can attend the fun 'zombie' dance to Michael Jackson's Thriller, there will be awareness movies that show the threats to marine life, a trash fashion show, trash crafts, and guest speakers who advise how to reduce waste.
Please visit GOOD Maker to VOTE for Dance 4 Oceans so that they can receive a grant to provide reusable bags or reusable water bottles to the participants.
After your VOTE, please share this as many poeple as you can. We have only a few days left.
Your support will be remembered by the chidren of our planet!!! Please support Dance 4 Oceans to save the ocean!
