I had placed this on the general C2 News Network awhile back, however it needs more attention so I am placing it here as well. I do this while thinking and honoring the life of Russell Means, Oglala, who recently took his Spirit Walk and knew personally the great suffering of these people.

One of the greatest threats to the survival of Lakota culture is the unlawful removal of Native American children from their families by South Dakota state authorities.

Spurred by federal monetary incentives, the state’s actions have reached epidemic proportions, with nearly 700 Native children being taken each year.

These policies constitute a full-scale attack on the Lakota kinship system and have resulted in the shattering of countless families.

Please watch the video. Link below.

Then if it moves you please go to the link below and sign the Petition for these children.

Already signed. Families should never be torn apart, except as the very last, most desperate measure.

Russell lives on in your many good works.

" Every year in South Dakota the state takes nearly 700 Native American children. 95% of them are placed in non-Native foster and state-run care—in direct violation of the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA)."
The question why brings no answers. Now is the time to act.
I have signed this petition Sheryl with prayers rising for Lakota children to be fostered by their relatives and only in Native American families where they know they are loved, where traditional family kinship is nurtured not destroyed.
