"Her name was Mrs. Thompson. As she stood in front of her 5th grade class on the very first day of school, she told the children a lie..."

It made my face wet.

I notice the link is active. Now I posted a link and it wasn't active. Do I have to add html? or does it matter what page you're on?

In case you wanna know:
yoursite.com/ = yoursite.com/index.html
The only case where you do not need to specify the file extension (htm, html, php, asp) is when you ask for a an entire folder/web-directory, and there is an index.xxx present.
If there is no index, nothing will be served unless you ask for a specific file in that directory, including the extension .html in this case.
It could be done the way you want, and to some degree often is in automated situations.
Instead of
innertalk.com/Quote_MrsThompson.html
If the site was set up like this:
innertalk.com/Quote/MrsThompson/index.html
Then your attempt would work.
When learning this I remember thinking that's silly, but now, I'm not so sure either way. Fact is geeks don't think like people, but they are learning to build computers that are beginning to.
innertalk.com is obviously very simple, simple is good.

PPS:
/ = change directory

The second example would often be used when there is more than one quote, or more than one page, by/about Mrs. Thompson.

In this case, there is no Quotes directory (folder), and even this one "quote", is not really a quotation.

Just in case anyone wants too much elaboration.

As you may have guessed, I actually enjoy explaining how to rule the web.
Currently building a WordPress self-help site but now all I've got is:
http://montesite.net/3
http://montesite.net
http://allness.be
but right now they are all in flux, simply a part of my giant clumsy web data recovery "system".
