Subject: BREAKING: Scenic Buzz the first jumps horse killed in 2013. DEMO TOMORROW @ 12pm
Coalition for the Protection of Racehorses
Dear Liz,

Scenic Buzz - First jumps racing victim of 2013
Scenic Buzz falls at the last jump before being killed
We're sorry that we're not writing to you with better news, but today the first jumps racing victim for 2013 was claimed. Scenic Buzz was killed in the 13th Victorian jumps race after falling and sustaining fatal neck injuries.
Scenic Buzz was left to suffer on track for 20 minutes before the vets decided to finally kill him. We are going to make sure his death is not in vain.
Please attend our protest tomorrow in Bourke St Mall from 12pm onwards as we demand that the Victorian government bring an end to this carnage. If the jockey/owner/trainers were in NSW, they'd be thrown in jail!
We have also decided that this year we will ramp up our actions, so each time a horse dies, we will also hold a demonstration on the following Saturday at the main metropolitan race meet to highlight to racegoers the cruelty they are unknowingly supporting. This week it is Caulfield racecourse, which is run by the Melbourne Racing Club who also run Sandown Racecourse where Scenic Buzz was killed today.
The Melbourne Racing Club has started a war it cannot win by trying to prevent CPR fieldworkers from documenting jumps races both inside and outside of the racetrack. Today photographers were evicted from the course, while security covered camera lenses of people outside the track. Our message to the MRC: If you've got nothing to hide, you've got nothing to worry about. Obviously they have a lot to hide, and even more to worry about.
